THE POWER OF YES …… JACK NADEL
As 2007 winds down, it is customary to look back at the year just past. On the World Scene, we cannot classify it as a great year or even a good year. With a few small breakthroughs of hope for the future, we were overwhelmed with bad news.
I would like to explore what we can do to change the direction and improve the State of the World. The answer I would expect from the individual is, "What can I do? How can my tiny efforts somehow effect these huge events that surround us? " If I am to believe Albert Gore, we are all responsible for the tragedies caused by storms, hurricanes, fires, and mudslides. Of course we cannot stop a hurricane that is on its way or a Tsunami that can submerge large pieces of land. But, we can do something to soften the blow with a responsive government and a charitable citizenry. Many companies including Jack Nadel International are making a sincere effort to go green.
Manmade disasters like wars are avoidable. However, it is now surrounded in so much controversy, frustration, and bad feelings that as individuals, we feel that we can have little or no effect on the outcome. Those of us who feel strongly one way or another have to prepare themselves for abuse from the other side
I believe that there is something each of us can do. Our first task is to rid ourselves of negative feelings particularly in our judgment of our politicians and other world leaders. It seems to me that everytime we declare war against something evil, we lose. Look at the record. Forty years ago we declared war against drugs and there are now more drugs than ever. At the same time we declared war against poverty and our streets are filled with homeless. And, even though it is well intentioned, "Just Say No" has not worked either.
I would propose that we make a concerted effort to turn positive. Instead of numbering all the things we are against, let’s see if we can put a positive spin on it and show what we are for.
Yes, we can cure poverty!
Yes, we can stop Global Warming!
Yes, we can stop wars!
Yes, we can provide homes for the homeless!
Yes, we can provide medicine for the sick!
Yes, we can provide a happy home for immigrants who sincerely want to part of this great country!
The United States was created by positive people who worked hard to make good things happen, but it all starts with a healthy mental attitude!

Yea team!!! Yes, we can—-but can we? I wish I could be so optimistic—but I’m not so sure any more. Where are our leaders—-where are the team players? We do a lot of name calling—but nothing seems to help. Oh well, you are there—so maybe I’m a little optimistic.
